Good morning!
Well, we made it out of the deep freeze over the weekend and despite a few grumbly clouds the temperatures were much more manageable. In actuality...it was almost 60 degrees warmer this weekend than it was last Monday. No kidding!
We put our Christmas tree decorations away and hauled the tree outside on Saturday and restored order to the living room. I got in some stamping time which was lovely and as a result I have some fresh and fun cards to share with you today.
The featured set this week is Button Buddies.
This is such a cute set and, as the name implies, is ideally suited to trimming with buttons if you want to. For my first two cards, I made a couple of baby cards ; one boy and one girl. The overall layout is the same, I just swapped out the colors. I used several layers of white which is usually a good choice for baby cards and used up a few scraps of DP for the little banner flags. Note, despite having an impressive collection of buttons, I couldn't find one in the right shade of blue/green for the boy card so I grabbed one that was close and used Washi tape to cover it.
My second card is a get well in bright, bold colors guaranteed to cheer. I opted to not use buttons on this one at all but created my own background paper by stamping the flower in three colors - Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron. The high contrast between the Pumpkin Pie and Elegant Eggplant really makes this card pop I think.
Finally, I used the flower vase in conjunction with a couple of flower punches to make my third sample. For this, I stamped the flower vase on ivory in Lucky Limeade so I would have the green stems and leaves, and then used punches to create the flowers. The vase was stamped again in Basic Black (yes, I know, I need to re-ink that pad), hand cut and adhered over the top of the green vase. I added yellow gems to the band on the vase to match the flower centers and then filled the rest of the vase in with Glassy Glaze so that it looks a little more 3D and shiny.
That's it for today but I hope you like what I put together. See you again soon!
