Monday Medley - #24 - Northern Hearts

Good morning!
Well folks, Winter is officially here. I know this because I nearly froze my patookus off picking out our Christmas tree on Saturday, dressing for work means wearing enough layers to make the abominable snowman look thin, and the days of worrying whether my hat will wreck my hair are gone. It's all about staying warm! Fashion takes a backseat. Aside from the frigid temps (We're in single digits in the morning these days) we also got smacked with our first real snow for the year last week and we tested out our new snowblower. Works like a champ. Now, let's not overdo it and wear the poor thing out!

But enough of that. Let's take a peek at what you really came here to see. : )

This week I am featuring the set Northern Hearts.
This set has been retired for a while now, but I picked it up at a stamp sale and thought it would be good to finally do something with it.
I really like the snowflakes that come in the set, and I found while playing that those birds can fly all on their own as well.
My first sample is a candle wrap that I made to fit around one of the 3 wick jar candles from Bath and Body Works. Sometimes the labels they put on the candles aren't quite my style or I love the scent of the candle but the color isn't quite right for my decor. So...when that happens, it's kind of fun to make a wrap for the outside of the jar. This is also a good way to dress one up for a gift.
Anyway, I wrapped the jar with a band of red gingham DP from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh collection and then topped that with a band of ribbon that I edged with a scalloped edge of Chocolate Chip. I used the birds and branches to create a little tag for the front and finished it all off with a few gems.

Next up is a little gift tag using the wreath stamp. I omitted the string and bow at the top and die cut the wreath with Spellbinders Standard Circles and then layered it on a Real Red scalloped circle. The tag is a 4 x 1-1/2 piece of Bazzil Ivy cs layered with a strip of DP from Echo Park's This & That Christmas collection. Both were chevron cut on one end and adhered together. The wreath is up on a dimensional as are the birds which I stamped, hand trimmed, glittered and perched in the wreath. A few red gems, a jute cord and a little sentiment tag round things out.

Finally, I have a very pretty snowflake card to share.
The card base is Marina Mist. I layered a wide panel of Stardreams Cobalt text weight paper down the middle and added another narrower panel of Bazzil Brown Sugar over that. The snowflakes were stamped randomly in 1st and 2nd generation Night of Navy, 1st generation River Rock and 1st generation Soft Suede on white. Three additional snowflakes were stamped and hand cut to pop up on dimensionals. All 3 were liberally coated with glitter. I tied a bit of ribbon around the stamped panel before adhering it in place and scattered clear and blue gems here and there for a little extra sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Stay warm!
