Hey there! Yes, it's really me. Back from...well, back from a VERY LONG hiatus during which I recovered my stamping mojo (I hope) and took the time I needed to re-discover a life where my mother isn't in it. Sad, I know, but truly, losing her shot an enormous hole in my desire to stamp so I had to just step away for a while and regroup.
Now, please don't think I totally forgot about all of you. On the contrary. I've spent several weeks re-thinking the best way to 1) come back from the creative dead zone and 2) do something a little fresh and new. I also wanted to try to cut down a little of my own personal stress over keeping the 5inkyfingers blog interesting and worth coming back to without sacrificing the ideas that I believe you are all looking for.
Introducing... Monday Medley!
As you know, most of the cards I make are done with Stampin' Up! stamps and you also know that the beauty of those sets is really in the variety of designs you get in each one. But, how often do you gravitate toward using only one or two stamps in the set? If you're like me, the answer is often.
Well, Monday Medley will hopefully...
Going forward, I'll only be posting every Monday but I'll be posting at least 3 or 4 cards at a time. (Sometimes more). I probably won't go into all the detail of how I made each one, but I'll give you a listing of all the supplies I used at the end just like before and, you are more than welcome to email me if you have a question about a particular card.
- help you to branch out a bit within your sets and
- start using those poor, sad neglected images that just don't jump out at you or
- simply give you more ideas for a set.
And now, without further ado, the
Monday Medley Week 1 featured set is: Mosaic Madness
I just have to say, I LOVE this set! I've seen lots of fabulous cards done with it, from simple to elegant and everything in between. Bright colors, pastels, neutrals...it really is super fun to work with and if you have the matching punch. Wow! Double the fun! Of course I just saw the matching embossing folder used in a video so that's next on my must-have list. Hmmm...seems to me I have a birthday coming up... *smiles*
With all the inspiration already out there for this set, it was a challenge to come up with something that I could really call a Toni-Original. Don't laugh. Once in a while, I really do come up with an idea all on my own!
The first two are essentially the same card but with two different orientations. Note, I also layered the stamped mosaics with their opposing colors on the second card.
The third one is a bit more involved with several layers and a punched out window for the birthday sentiment.
The fourth card uses a couple of the "less popular" stamps in the set and a color combo that I really love. I used Groovy Guava and Chocolate Chip but the new Cantaloupe Crush would work well as a substitute for the Guava. I want to try this one with Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip too.
Finally, the last card is one I did the first day I got the set. The color combo is pure 1970s but there's something kinda fun about pairing this "retro" looking set with retro colors.
I hope you've found some fresh inspiration here today and that you'll stop back again next week.
Enjoy your 4th of July celebrations - no matter what and where they might be - and have a fabulous week!
