Today I have the first of several valentine posts to share with you. I'll have a mix of little treat boxes to show you as well as a bunch of card ideas so let's dive in!
My boxes are cut using a Sizzix BigZ die that I recently purchased. This box is really fun to make and the decorating possibilities really are endless. I do recommend making the box out of cardstock however, as most designer papers just aren't heavy enough.
I am showing two versions here because I decorated the side and end panels a little differently. The first box is decorated with separate panels of DP cut just slightly smaller than the area to be covered. For the second box, I simply cut a long strip of DP and wrapped it around the box and securing the ends on the back side. The box is sized just right for this as a 12˝ strip of DP will go all the way around, and in this case, my repeating heart pattern actually met up perfectly. Really, how often does THAT happen?!
Once I had the boxes covered, I wrapped each box with a length of pleated ribbon and then added the punched medallion and silk ribbon flower.
I created the punched medallion on the box on the left with the Doily Triple Layer punch and my 1-3/4 inch scallop circle punch. I used Bazzill Lemonade yellow for the scallop circle and Pirouette Pink and the same coral as the box for the doily punches.
A little coral heart and a yellow flower brad finish it off.
For the second box, the silk rose is actually clipped from some rose ribbon I found at Archivers by American Crafts. Very pretty stuff and very easy to snip apart and use for things like this.
Finally, I filled each box with a little cello bag of Valentine M&Ms and tied the handles closed with ribbon or some red twine I had. They each got a little tag too that I stamped and punched before tying them on the boxes.
