Sweet Friendship

Good morning  and welcome to another week of stamping fun!

I had another busy weekend but it's hard to complain about a day spent with friends  an evening of laughs with more friends, and one more small DIY project completed.  *smiles*

Today I have a birthday card to share with you. It started out as the base for a totally different sort of card but sort of morphed into what I have here.
I have been seeing a lot of different things being done with scored paper including paper rosettes and cute little dresses like this one so I thought I would give it a try.

My card base is a 5-1/4 x 10-1/2 piece of Ruby Red. I layered panels of So Saffron and Old Olive horizontally on the face of the card and then topped them with a 4-1/2 inch square and a coordinating strip of DP from the My Minds Eye Miss Caroline Dilly Dally assortment.  This is the point where it occurred to me that some stitching might be in order but, of course, I had already stuck everything down. : (
So…rub ons to the rescue!!!  I dug through my stash and found a cute zig zag stitch rub on from a Cloud 9 Design assortment called Cinnamon Stick. I added that along the right edge of my DP strip and then went to work on the rest.

The stamped panel is a small piece of Neenah Solar White stamped with Ridinghood Red and a sentiment from Stampendous' Friendship Assortment. I layered that on a piece of So Saffron and then set it aside.
The Old Olive and Ruby Red pieces were cut and adhered together and then passed through the Square Lattice embossing folder for a little texture. I adhered the sentiment piece over that and then attached it all to the card.

Next came the dress.  The skirt is a 3 x 6 piece of DP scored every 1/4 inch then pleated. I used a ribbon scrap to tie one end together and let the rest fan out.
The bodice, collar and waistband are all cut freehand and layered over the skirt after I had it adhered to the card. NOTE: I used sticky strip to attach the skirt to the card because the pleats don't leave you with a lot of surface area to stick down.

Finally, to girlie it all up a bit more, I punched a bunch of flowers with my Itty Bitty punch pack punches, distressed them so they cupped like real flowers and used glue dots to stick them where I wanted them. All the flowers got a green gem center and I finished off the dress with a couple extra too.

Thanks for stopping! Have a great day!
