Good morning! Today, I have a pretty "cheer you up" sort of card to share with you using the Stampendous Cling Rubber Nesting Bird stamp and Clear Friendly Phrases set. I've paired this sweet stamp with some summery October Afternoon papers from the Sidewalks collection, a few buttons, a bit of ribbon and some Spellbinders die cuts.
So, here we go!
My card base is a 5-1/4 x 10-1/2 inch piece of Stampin' Up! Marina Mist cardstock that is folded in half and layered with a 5 inch panel of Daffodil Delight. Over that, I paired up two coordinating prints from the October Afternoon Sidewalks collection of papers and a punched strip of Wild Wasabi cardstock. The OA papers are 4-3/4 x 3-1/2 and 4-3/4 x 1-7/8 and the Wild Wasabi strip was punched with Martha Stewart's Arch Lattice edge punch.
The Nesting Bird is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa on Neenah Solar White cardstock, colored with Copic markers and die cut using Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large. I realized when I was coloring the image that my plan to die cut the piece would result in clipping off part of the branch so I did a little hand trimming so that I could have the branch extend beyond the diecut oval. Basically, what I did was decide where I wanted the oval to sit on the image, made a small pencil mark where the die would intersect with the branch and then hand trimmed the branch just slightly past the pencil marks. When I put the panel through the die cutting process, I pulled the hand trimmed branch up so that it rested on TOP of the die rather than below where it would get clipped off. The result is that the branch extends beyond the edge of the oval which adds a bit of interest to the whole thing.
I also cut a scalloped oval of Stampin Up! Cool Caribbean (retired color) to layer behind the bird and nest using the Spellbinders Classic Scallop Ovals Large. Both of these pieces were then adhered together and mounted to the card using foam dimensionals.
Next, I picked a sentiment from Stampendous Clear Friendly Phrases and stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa on a small piece of Neenah Solar White. It was hand trimmed into the banner shape. A little manipulation with my fingers gives it a bit of an arch in the middle which I reinforced with a double stack of foam dimensionals in the center. The ends are adhered to the card with glue dots and a couple of Crystal Stickers blue gems deck out the ends.
Finally, I tied a bit of Offray white organdy ribbon (Michaels) into a soft bow, added a Stampin' Up! Brights button tied with wax string to the center and adhered it just below the center oval. A trio of smaller buttons finish off the lower right corner.
Thanks so much for popping in today! I hope your day is suitably cheery!
