Stars and Medallions

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine has involved a LOT of weed pulling, clearing out and planting so today is definitely going to be a day of leisure. Of course that doesn't preclude me from rising early enough to enjoy a cup of coffee before the rest of the house wakes up. *smiles*

Today's card is actually a birthday card, but I think the star lends itself nicely to a Memorial Day salute.  The beauty of this card is that it is a versatile design but today, I think we all owe a debt of gratitude to all of the men and women of our military who risk their lives every day for our freedom and to all who have given their lives to that same end. Blessings to all of you!

My card base is a half sheet of olive green cardstock. I stamped a Neenah Baronial Ivory panel with the Weathered stamp in River Rock and adhered that to the card front. The next two layers are a repeat of the olive green and ivory stamped with the Unity Everlasting Romance corner stamp also in River Rock. The ribbon was tied around this last layered pair and then the piece was adhered to the card with dimensionals. A Night of Navy square medallion from Artifiacts trims out the upper right corner with an antique gold brad in the center to finish it off.

Finally, the star and penny were stamped with Night of Navy and Old Olive on Neenah Baronial Ivory, trimmed and punched and popped up on dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend and for all of you who are traveling, drive safely!
