Well, there's nothing like an extra day of R & R to shorten your week!
Here it is Wednesday already and the weekend is fast approaching. On the up side, I managed to file away a few projects at work yesterday, and my day at home Monday yielded a few much-needed family cards.
May is a very busy month for us traditionally with birthdays, anniversaries, (including my own) and Mother's Day so I made time this weekend after I diligently put all my toys away, to make some of those extra special cards.
Today's card is for my brother-in-law Duane and his wife Giselle.
I cased it (almost verbatim) from this one by Playwriter on Splitcoast. Her design is simply stunning and though I did have to substitute stamps and dies, I followed her layout pretty closely. I modified mine to be a square card though.
The card base is a 10-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Marina Mist folded and layered with a distressed and sponged panel of DSP from the Twitterpated collection. The hearts are cut with Spellbinders Classic Hearts, sponged and stamped with the floral spray from Friends 24-7. The bird is also from that same set and is stamped with Ranger Walnut Stain ink. Note, I used Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery markers to ink up the floral spray.
The flowers are all die cut using Sizzix Birds and Blooms dies and the leaves are cut with the Branches with Leaves die. I used Marina Mist for the flowers and Certainly Celery for the leaves. Each flower was shaped with an embossing tool and foam mat and finished off with a green Crystal Stickers gem.
The sentiment is from Elzybells Sentiments and was stamped in the same Ranger Walnut Stain ink then punched with the medium oval punch, over-stamped with the floral spray, sponged and layered on a scallop oval of Marina Mist.
The pleated ribbon and crocheted lace trim at the bottom were tucked behind the DSP panel prior to adhering that piece down and then all the other pieces were added from there.
Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Wednesday!
