Happy Birthday Dixie!

Good morning from sunny San Antonio!
I left my family at home this week just as our first major snow storm hit and flew off to greener (and much warmer) pastures! I wish I could say I was sorry...

Today's card is the third in the trio of unusual embellishments. Actually this one came out of a "gauntlet challenge" that my pal Twyla tossed down knowing full well I would pick it up and run with it. I'm a little competitive that way I guess...*smiles*
Anywhoo...here we go

The card is a 5-1/4 x 11-1/2 piece of Taken with Teal cardstock layered with two pieces from one of the My Mind's Eye Lime Twist paper packs. I apologize, but I can't recall the name at this point. Anyway, the bottom strip was also decked out with a Threading Water edge punch of Early  Espresso and a couple of buttons tied with wax thread.
Yeah...yeah...you're wondering what's with the dixie cup right?
I took a small 3 oz cup and clipped approximately every 3/8 of an inch all the way around. It was pure dumb luck that I ended up with fairly even petals. Sorry, it doesn't get any more scientific than that!
Next, I hand trimmed each petal a little to clip off the rolled edge that comes on the cup and then folded each one back to form a more flattened flower. I sponged toward the center with Cameo Coral and then went over the tips with Rose Red before hand curling each one back.
The center is a scallop circle punched from Early Espresso that is attached with a small stack of foam dimensionals.
Finally, I stamped the cupcake from Create a Cupcake in Kiwi Kiss and Cameo Coral on Neenah Solar White, punched it out with the cupcake punch and then coated the top of the cupcake liberally with pink ultrafine glitter. The cherry got a dollop of Diamond Glaze so it looks 3D and shiny. A trio of glue dots holds the dixie cup flower to the card.

Challenge answered, I'd say!

Enjoy your day!
