Good morning!
My apologies for the delayed post, but due to technical difficulties yesterday with Blogger, I was not able to post. It's apparently all better now, so here we are! If you checked in yesterday to see what was new and were disappointed, I hope this card makes up for it!
My nephew's daughter Payton turned one on May 5th and we celebrated last weekend with a party for her. I wanted a special card for her so I headed off to Mo Manning's Digital Pencil Too site and did a little browse. Of course, I found any number of images that are absolutely adorable but this one (1st Birthday Girl) was perfect for little Payton. Paired up with some sweet new Hometown Summer paper from Pink Paislee and Copic coloring I pretty much couldn't lose!
So, here goes:
The card base is a 5.75 x 11.5 inch piece of Chocolate Chip which I set aside right after I folded it. lol!
There are lots of layers coming up so I hope I can explain them all clearly.
The bottom layer is a 5.625 inch square of Certainly Celery and a 5.5 inch square of the yellow print from the Pink Paislee Hometown Summer paper pack. I added a fairly wide strip of the pink gingham paper and a scallop edge (Bazzill) along the right side and then stitched them on my sewing machine. Once that was done, I adhered the panel to the Chocolate Chip card base.

Next came the layered rectangle which consists of graduated pieces of Chocolate Chip, Yellow Bazzill and DP layered and stitched in the same way as the previous panel.
The birthday girl image was printed on Neenah Solar White and colored with Copics. I sponged So Saffron around the image to give it a sunny glow, used my Sizzix Bigz scallop circle die to cut her out, then went back and sponged the edges of the scallops a little more to darken them. The Chocolate Chip circle was cut with my circle cutter and the two were adhered together. I straight stitched around the edge of the chocolate circle and then zig-zag stitched the scallop image. Unfortunately, my thread broke halfway around but I just kept going. Making lemonade out of lemons, I just pulled out the thread and decided the double row of pierced holes was perfect! lol!

Inside of the card. |
After placing this piece on the card with a few dimensionals to pop it up a bit, I finished the whole thing off with a few tiny flowers punched with the Itty Bitty punch pack, some baby pearls, a little glitter on the birthday girl's dress and a white bow.
the inside is done to match with a few packages (Happy Moments), some DP and birthday verse.
Whew! Thanks for following along with all that!
Enjoy your weekend! Our's promises to be busy-busy-busy with Josh home from college and a birthday celebration for him as well. Coincidentally, his birthday was the same day as Payton's but we've been waiting for him to come home to go out and celebrate.
