Rich's Birthday Journey

Good morning!
I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was pretty busy but lots of fun. Saturday morning I went to the Bachman's Idea House with some friends here in Minneapolis and then spent the afternoon stamping with my best friend. Sunday was hubby Rich's birthday so we celebrated with brunch at Granite City before Josh caught the bus back to school and I spent the afternoon doing domestic stuff while the birthday boy enjoyed his day lounging around. All in all, a very good weekend!
Today I'm sharing the card that I made for Rich's birthday. I've had this Tim Holtz stamp set called The Journey for a while now but the 7 Gypsies Venice designer paper is fairly new. They play together very well I think!
The base card is a 5.25 x 10.5 inch piece of Early Espresso. The face of the card is covered with a patchwork of different designs from the 7 Gypsies Venice paper pack. I chose an assortment of stripes and prints and I layered a couple of them on either Baja Breeze or Early Espresso cardstock.  Both stamped pieces are stamped on Neenah Baronial Ivory and layered on Early Espresso. The clock is done with Baja Breeze then punched out and layered and the verse is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and layered on a piece of designer paper before layering on the Early Espresso. The tab at the top is Baja Breeze and Early Espresso. Before adhering the verse and clock to the card, I wrapped the twill ribbon tape around the top, threaded the ends through the buckle and fastened it with brads. I added the little metal spinner to the clock next, and then adhered it and the verse to the card with dimensionals.  Finally, I threaded the buttons together with wax thread and used glue dots to adhere them to the card. The inside is lined with a panel of Neenah Baronial Ivory and a couple strips of the 7 Gypsies paper.
