A Spot O Magic Box

Hello!
As promised, today I have a super fun project to share with you. I teased you with it a few posts back so if you've been patiently waiting...thank you! I am also sharing this with you because, here in Minnesota, after a nice long Autumn in which we were all spoiled rotten with balmy weather and an absence of snow, we've now been slapped in the face with Winter quite abruptly. I kid you not. Last week temps were still hovering in the mid-20s and 30s and today I woke up to 12 degrees and several inches of white stuff. We're all re-acclimating ourselves to the whole wind-chill concept (that 12 degree temperature actually feels like 25 below zero) while we also learn how to drive in it all over again. Long story short - I thought we needed a little dose of flowery cheer and what better than an exploding box of flowers?!

The instructions for this, along with several truly fabulous creations by the originator, can be found at Magic Boxes. Elaine, the author and creator is a genius with paper so be sure and check out her website and blog for some great ideas.
I've made a handful of these now in various sizes because, of course, I can never leave an existing template alone. I always seem to change things up in one way or another. This particular box is no exception though the change to Elaine's design was due to a faulty conversion from metric to inches rather than by design. I've since expanded on my little oops and managed to squeeze in double the flowers! I'll share that box a little later. (Yes, I know I am a tease!)
For the box, I started with an 8-1/2 inch square of Always Artichoke cardstock and scored it at 2-7/8 inches on all four sides. The lid is also Always Artichoke cut 4-1/4 square and scored at 3/4 inch on all four sides. Subsequent layers are cut incrementally 1/4 inch smaller. The exterior layers are Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla. I ran the Vanilla pieces through the Cuttlebug Bloom Dots and Dotted Swiss embossing folders. Interior layers are Regal Rose, Rich Razzleberry and Very Vanilla. Here I stamped flowers and leaves and the medallion (In the Spotlight) in Regal Rose, Rich Razzleberry and Certainly Celery. The flowers themselves are all stamped on Very Vanilla with Regal Rose and Rich Razzleberry and layered on punched flowers in the same colors. The flowers are all held together with little magenta pink brads.
The assembly is all detailed quite nicely in Elaine's tutorial so I'm going to omit that here, but here are the supplies I used for this one.
