Sparkle and Shake Christmas

Hello!
Well, December is here and the holidays are sneaking up fast so I have another Christmas card to share with you today. This one is a shaker card, and while the card itself is very pretty this photo is not. I forgot to coat the interior of the shaker window with my  embossing buddy so of course the static electricity gremlin took hold. My apologies!
There's lots of bling on this one. I went a little nuts with the adhesive gems but I bought a package of them a while back and didn't realize they were meant to be used in strings rather than individually. Since I wanted them for the latter, they've been a thorn in my side every time I go to use them so for this I surrendered and let them do what they wanted. LOL!
The card base is a 5-1/4 square of Ivory Pearl Stardreams and the card is Not Quite Navy cut to 10 x 5 and folded. I stamped the face of the card with one of the little medallions from In the Spotlight in Not Quite Navy and then layered the middle with a band of Very Vanilla. On that I stamped the "Merry, Merry, Merry" repeatedly with Not Quite Navy. Now for the fun part. Well, okay maybe not so much. I had these nice mostly flat shaker windows that I bought from Impression Obsession. They actually work just like the little treat cups from Stampin' Up! in that they have an adhesive lip. The problem is getting the hole cut to the right size. Well, I have this circle cutter that I rarely use, mostly because I can never figure out on the first try which hole to use for the little swivel blade cutter. Since I had a nice start on this card, I didn't want to mess up the center cut. Long story short - I tested a couple sizes on scratch paper and managed to get lucky on the 2nd try. One of these days I'm going to try and figure out what the size increments are on that thing. Anywhoo...I cut the center circle out next and then repeated the circle cut on a square of light blue textured cs (American Crafts). I ran it through the Cuttlebug with a Quickutz Nesting Flowers die to get the hollow scalloped circle. Whew! After adhering the scallop ring I was ready for the interior snowflake. The stamp is from Inkadinkado's Holiday Assortment (#60-30026) It's a clear stamp that I found in the dollar bin at JoAnn Etc. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla 4-7/8 square and lightly tacked it to the back side of the front of the card with temporary adhesive and then carefully inked and stamped the snowflake through the window opening. Then I popped in the shaker window, tossed in a bit of blue/silver glitter, and adhered it permanently. Note: This is where I goofed. If you lightly dust your embossing buddy over the inside of your shaker window 9or acetate window) the glitter doesn't stick so much. Obviously you want to make sure you don't end up with a dusty window, but if you're careful you can eliminate at least some of the static electricity that is inherent to acetate and glitter.)There's also a square of Vanilla on the inside of the card since the Not Quite Navy is kinda dark for writing anything on. Finally, to finish it all off, I added the adhesive gems and a bit of gold ribbon.

Thanks for visiting!
