Wedded Bliss

Good morning & happy sunny Sunday! It's a nice, bright, cheery and CALM day today and that's such a welcome thing after all the wind we've been dealing with this past week. I'm from North Dakota originally and believe me when I say, Chicago may be called The Windy City, but it's got nothing on North Dakota! I am pretty sure it's the lack of trees to stop it but, in any case, I grew up with constant wind and it's a real pain. It's part of the reason I moved to Minneapolis-the other part is that lovely diamond ring on my left hand- but more on that in a bit. My point is, it generally isn't all that windy here but lately...sheesh. Of course you only notice it when you have longer hair and if you're facing East... or West...or North... well you get the idea.

So, on to the other reason I moved to Minneapolis 24 years ago. Tomorrow, my hubby Rich and I will be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. Wow right? Even I have trouble believing it sometimes, but there it is. My pal Gretchen married her sweetie Jeff yesterday in a BEAUTIFUL ceremony over in St. Paul, and I was there to witness it along with several other people from work. (Gretchen is one of our receptionists) It was fun to see her just as excited the day of the wedding as she has been for the past several months planning for it. I wish them both all the best as they start their married life together. I hope they have at least as many years together as Rich and I have had.

I honor of all this wedded bliss, I'm sharing another card I made a while back. The colors of this one are a happy little nod to Gretchen and Jeff (Her bridesmaids wore light blue). It's an anniversary card so that's my nod to Rich.

I started with a Certainly Celery card base and layered it up with a couple of pieces of Delicate Dots DSP - both the stripe and the all blue floral. A piece of celery double stitched ribbon and a Scalloped Lace punched piece of Whisper White across the middle dressed up the face of the card. Next I stamped the branch from Thoughts and Prayers in Certainly Celery and the greeting from InkADinkADo's Wedding set in Bashful Blue on Whisper White, sponged them a bit to soften them and layered each one on So Saffron. The little blue flowers on the branch are stamped with Bashful Blue then punched out with a 1/4 inch circle punch and glued to the branch. Four coordinating blue eyelets in the corners added a little interest. Both the branch and the greeting are mounted up on dimensionals. Finally, for a little bit of "bling" I added tiny rhinestones to the centers of each flower.
